Brood Stock
Brood Stock are what we use for breeding the fry on the fish farm. When you are starting out in Fish farming it is always best to use some cheap fish either mirror carp or goldfish. You really dont want to be messing around with your £500 Sanke when you are just learning about fish farming. When you have the hang of the method of fish farming it doesnt take long to get your confidence you move onto the more expensive fish. Genetics are pretty much the same in any animal, its the same with fish, if you have two Koi Sanke fish that are show winners and you breed them together the odds are the Fish you will get from the two will be good show quality, not all of them but some of them, same if you breed two large fish together you will have big fish genitics. The list goes on but you must look at your genitic lines through the brood stock.
