Disaster on The Koi Farm

With fish farming or Koi Farming and in life in general Risk=Reward. Fish farming is a risky business things do go wrong and can be a real pain when they do. Our accident happened in the early years in 2002. We had just spawned about 200000 Sanke and Kohaku Koi. They were growing great eating all the Food and shrimp we feed the fry. Anyway they were 3 weeks old and i decided to move them to the bigger tanks which have belt feeders. The Koi Fry were put in a much bigger tank. I fed them that morning with 1 Kg of Crumb food. Little did i know that the belt feeder had stuck. On that evening i forgot to check if the feeder had finished as i scrubbed the grid at the bottom of the tank i must have knocked the feeder which put the food in during the night the fish didnt feed on it and killed most of the Koi i was left with 1800 koi after the 16 weeks. It hadnt cost alot of money to get the fish to that stage but it does take alot of effort. Needless to say i always check the belt feeders every night and even take them off the tanks. It Must Be Paranoia. Accident like this do happen but you have to get on with it and go again, learn from your mistakes and carry on, Fish Farming isnt a science its just dealing with living things which is never easy.
