Recirculation System Design (fish farming)
The recirculation systems have come to play a very significant and efficient role within the paradigm of aquaculture. It is one of the recent innovations in the field of fish farming that has finally enabled fish farmers to breed the fry in artificially controlled environment without having to prepare the exact natural conditions. As a result, the recirculation systems have come to find large scale use both amongst the commercial fish farmers and the ones who do it for special educational purpose. The recirculation system of fish farming within a very short span of time has found immense use and popularity all across the world amongst the fish growers.
Better known as the re-circulating Aquaculture System or RAS, this procedure is the latest form of fish farming that has come into this production system. The RAS by nature is an indoor system that makes it possible for the farmers to control the environmental conditions in which they grow the fry and the fish all throughout the year. Though the investment that goes into the making and installation of a RAS system is comparatively a lot higher to what it takes for the installation of a cage culture or a pond, the former is a more efficient system without a doubt. If the farmer can manage the RAS set up properly and efficiently it is possible to produce fish all round the year. So the boosted economic return automatically makes up for the high initial investments that go in.
RAS is a rather complicated system of aquaculture. So the beginners, before they start of with this process should put in ample time in learning its ways properly. In the recirculation system cartridge filters are used for removing solids from the water. These can be cleaned by pulling them out and rinsing thoroughly. In order to create high density in the water there is an additional four cartridge solids filter which helps increase the time in between two cleaning sessions. The recirculation system also has a UV sterilizer that helps eliminate up to 99% of the disease causing micro-organisms in the water along with the green algae. But the RAS system needs to have a continuous amount of water flow to keep the water clean. The water is to be supplied at a particular standard temperature that is blended with oxygen. This helps ensure ample amount of growth in the fish. Moreover, the harmful wastes and the uneaten feed are to be detoxified from the pond or the tank using some biological method.
