Lake Aeration Restoration

PLake Aeration
Lake aeration is basically carried out in order to improve the quality of water in the lakes, ponds, rivers, wastewater lagoons, reservoirs, etc. The process has been practiced since 1970 when it was discovered for the first time. Lake aeration systems are basically installed for the following purposes:

  • Reduction of the aquatic weeds
  • Elimination of algae from a water body
  • Reduction in organic sediments and muck
  • Eradication of foul odor from a lake or water body
  • Abolition of fish kills
  • Improve up on the over all health of the fish residing in a pond
  • Reduction in the amount of bacteria in the pond or lake

How can lake aeration help in restoration of the lake?
In order to restore a lake properly one thing that is necessary to be done before anything else is restore the organic process by which the lake can manage to assimilate all the nutrient loads that it receives.  It is necessary to both use and there on accelerate the natural process that physically exists in all lakes and ponds. That is precisely the way in which Mother Nature has been restoring all the water bodies on this planet for thousands of years.
Disparity in the restoration process makes Lake Aeration necessary
The increase in the development of watersheds has seen huge boosts in the last couple years. As a result a number of lakes all around the world have been subjugated to a constantly increasing load of sediments and nutrients. This obviously leads to a decline of the quality of the water in the lakes which in a way hinders the original restoration process that naturally exists in all water bodies. This increase in the load of nutrients and sediments is the result of the heightened use of fertilizers, improper waste disposal, poor erosion control, and malfunctioning septic systems that lead directly to the watersheds. With increasing development the total area of hard surface on the planet also increases which boosts the velocity of the water moving through the watershed in the surface waters. Such a run off heightens the rate of soil erosion and floods away the nutrients and organic materials from the surface of the soil layers. These inorganic materials including clay, sand and silt get mixed in the receiving water resulting in a diminished quality of the lake water. Hence lake aeration has become one of the most necessary processes to be implemented in order to restore the water quality of the lakes and ponds all around.
