Keeping fish weither it is Koi or Tropical fish can be very fulfilling. The most popular way to buy fish is small 2-3" koi. This way the fish keeper can watch the fish grow into a large expensive fish. Fish keeping does have several things that have to be watched. What food you are giving your fish and when. In the summer fish eat a high protein diet but in winter in ponds that need less due to the cold weather. There are oxygen issues, the higher the temperature the lower the oxygen saturation and so on. Along with water quality and parasites, if you are a koi hobyist you are half way there with your knowledge of koi keeping.
